Minister Bailey Lamar Jones was born on April 8, 1966, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina to the late Luther McCoy and Shirley Mae Jones. Bailey graduated from Norview High School in Norfolk, Virginia in 1984. Bailey later moved to New York City and made his home there ever since. On November 25, 1996, Bailey joined union in marriage to his beautiful, humble and beloved wife, Daura White. On August 7, 2000, Bailey joined the New York City Police Department, School Safety Division as a school Safety Officer. He was loved and respected by his colleagues and Supervisor.
Bailey gave his heart to the Lord in 2003 and joined Cathedral of Christ Community under the leadership of Bishop Lillian Robinson-Wiltshire. Bailey later joined as a member and Minister at Friendly Christian Church under the leadership of Pastor Irene J. Wallace. In his short time at Friendly Christian, Bailey’s gifts were manifested in the services of food pantry on Saturdays and leading the boys to men mentoring program.
In June 2009, Bailey completed a play and premiered the evolution of his life story entitled, “If I can get another chance”. Bailey was an unofficial choir member of Friendly Christian’s Mass Choir singing his favorite songs. He also joined the Men’s Ministry in which he enjoyed graciously.
Bailey left an everlasting impact on his church family with his patriarchy leadership, dedication, passion and courageousness. He truly loved his church home at Friendly Christian, Pastor Irene J. Wallace and his previous Pastor, Bishop Lillian Robinson-Wiltshire. Bailey enjoyed activities such as paintball and watching action movies. Bailey loved serving the Lord with all of his heart, mind and soul. Bailey was a man who stood firm on his words and principles.
Bailey is survived by his loving wife of twelve years, Daura Jones, his beautiful daughter Jasmine Dosche White-Jones, his handsome sons: Tarbree McCoy Jones, Cameron Pitt and Bailey Jones Jr., five brothers: Luther Jones, Mark (Wayne), Fritz, Lance and the late Tarik (Shone) Jones, one sister Aalashia (Nicole) Jones, one sister-in-law Daphne Parker, father and mother-in-law Moses and Mary White, one brother-in-law Darren White, three aunts: Helen, Minnie (Honey) and Ann and a host of nieces, nephews and comrades.
