Alstead Albert St John Williams

Alstead Albert Williams has been called Home to the arms of our Lord on January 4th 2023 at the age of 81. Alstead, known to many of his friends and family as Albert, was born in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies on September 21, 1941 to parents Ivy Lewis and John Williams. Alstead grew up in Kingston, Jamaica, graduating with his diploma in Construction Engineering from the College of Arts, Science and Technology in Kingston, Jamaica. He was employed by an American Civil Engineering company where he was recognized for his hard work, skills and dedication; was offered the opportunity to relocate with the company to the United States with his bride Aldith in 1966. Alstead went on to attend the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1974 where he received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering Construction and Contracting Management in 1978. Alstead’s professional career in the engineering and construction management industry lasted over 45 years with multiple promotions where he retired as Deputy Director of the NYC Housing Preservation and Development department in 2010. Alstead had a love for classical music but his passion was operatic singing in which he sang bass/baritone. He sang for the NYC opera company for many years but found his ministry singing for the glory of our Lord God in church choirs. He attended St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, NY, Church of the Master’s Episcopal Church in Manhattan, NY and ending his earthly journey as an active member of St. Simon’s Episcopal Church where he commuted each Sunday from Brooklyn to New Rochelle, NY rain or shine. Alstead (Albert) is survived by his 2 children Andre , Allison and their mother Aldith. His sisters Yvonne, Ann Marie. His brothers Whitson and Rudolph. Five nieces, six nephews and several grand nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his mother Ivy Lewis, father John Williams, and sister Marie Theresa. Alstead Albert Williams is now the member of the eternal choir in Heaven. Services are as follows: Calling hours will be held on January 18th 2023 from 5p to 8pm at Grace Funeral Chapels 607 N.
