Eric Durant

Eric Adolphus Durant was the oldest child born to Byron Fields & Gladys Durant on August 19, 1916 in the parish of Christ Church, Barbados. Eric married Clara Durant his devoted wife now deceased on September 23, 1942 at St. Martins Anglican Church in the parish of St. Philip, Barbados. They were blessed with 6 children. Eric and Clara resided in the parish of St. Michael after they marriage and became members of the St. Michael's Cathedral Church. He was a member of the Barbados Regiment until the late 60's. A tailor by trade, he also worked at the Barbados Cotton Factory until he immigrated to the United States in1978. Eric and Clara became members of Trinity St. John Episcopal Church in Hewlett, Long Island. They continued to worship there until they relocated to Jacksonville, Florida in June 2002 to reside with their son Wayne and daughter in law Colleen due to health problems. While in New York he came in contact many wonderful people and formed many lasting relationships. Eric lived a Christian life and was always ready to help anyone when needed. On November 6, 2008, Eric was called to a higher and peaceful place and his memory will always be in our hearts and cherished by all who knew him. Eric left many family members and loving friends to mourn his passing.
