Ida Myrtle Daniel

Ida Myrtle Daniel was born on October 20, 1925 in Bartow, Georgia to the late John and Ida Hilson. Ida was the second youngest of eleven children. She attended the county school until grade seven. During the next year she worked as a teacher’s assistant for kindergarten and first grade. The following year she attended Wadley High School. Ida moved to New York City where she met and married Eddie Daniel in December 1948. They resided in Far Rockaway Queens in the Redfern Houses with their five children until Eddie’s passing in September 1959. Ida then moved to 1194 Greene Ave in Brooklyn, New York in 1961 with the help of Douglas Brown, a family friend which her husband asked for him to see after his family upon his passing. After moving to Brooklyn, she gave birth to two children sired by Douglas Brown. Ida raised her children with a hard hand and lots of love. You would hear those famous words that only she could say with authority, “Got the mighty knows, and I’m a lie then.” Once you heard those words you knew that Ida was not playing. Ida’s strict rules helped her children to succeed and learn life’s lessons with open eyes. In August 1991 to March 2001, Ida lived in East Meadow, Long Island, NY, then upstate to Middletown, NY, residing with her daughter Dorothy until 2023. Ida traveled a lot and shopped until she dropped. Ida and Dorothy moved to Copiague, Long Island, NY, where they resided with her remaining children, Sandra and Jeffrey until she was called home on Saturday, August 24, 2024. Ida was preceded on her journey home by four of her children, her daughter Connie Daniel of Greensboro, North Carolina, her sons Irving Daniel of Brooklyn, New York, Eddie and Wayne Daniel of Los Angeles, California and her grandson Quinton Daniel. She leaves to mourn her three (3) children, daughters Dorothy Hackley, Sandra D8aniel, and her son Jeffrey Daniel of Copiague, New York and daughter-in-law Angelique Daniel of Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Fifteen (15) grandchildren, Sheron Best, Pamela Toure-Young, Sonya Elliott, Sheridan Daniel (Bernadette), Charmaine St Preux(Ralph), Nikkia Daniel, Paulette Daniel, Noelle Weekes, Nikky Daniel, Eddie Daniel Jr, Terrell Featherston. Wayne Daniel Jr., Dante Daniel, Danielle Daniel. She also leaves eighteen (18) great grandchildren, Dominique Powell, Jamel Swinson, Francis (Allen) Hailey Jr., Ashley James, Michael George, Bryan Best, Aaron Daniel, Justin George, Ciara Best, Alissa Sharpe, Autumn Daniel, Dayna Best, Sheridan Sharpe, Sarai St. Preux, Jordyn Thomas, Taylor Sharpe, Shekai St. Preux, Layla Allen. Nine (9) great great grandchildren, Izayre Hailey, Savannah Williams, Amara Hailey, True Swinson, Serenety Best-Bynum, Caleb Best-Bynum, Rowan Swinson, Raelynn Hailey and a host of nieces and nephews, friends and loved ones. Ida was the matriarch of her family and will be greatly missed. She was the last of her siblings to be called home, marking the end of a generation.
