Memories of Our Beloved LESTER ALAN SMITH, JR. In the late evening of Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at approximately 10:30 p.m, Lester departed this life in Hampton, Virginia. Lester Alan Smith, Jr. also known as Lefty was the last child born to Lester and Joan Smith. He was born on November 8, 1989 in Brooklyn Hospital in New York. Lester attended Thelma J. Hamilton Middle School. He continued his education at South Shore High School in Brooklyn, NY. Lester furthered his education at ASA Institute where he studied for his Associate degree to become a medical assistant. Lester spent his days hanging with friends, spending quality time with his family, and pursuing his passion in music. Lester wrote and produced his own music. He wrote and produced songs with some of his closets friends and cousins such as Kwame, Matthew, Andre, Dutch, Boogie, Kevin, Amber, Antwann, Andrew, Dot, and Neptalie. He influenced his friends to pursue their dreams in music. Lester was extremely bright and talented. He expressed himself through music. He was known for his wide smile, laughter, out-going personality, and his ability to bring family and friends together. Lester was just that guy, a friend to the end. He was always there to talk to in a time of need. He always had your back, and you can count on him whenever you needed him. To know him was to truly love him. Just being in his presence brought warmth and comfort. In his last days he found love for the very first time with Mariyah Wiggins. He was beginning the transformation from boy to man; from son to father. He formed his own family taking on a role that few young men are afraid to face. He loved his step-daughter as if she was his own. Never asking questions but being the father figure that she needed. It takes a man to take on such a huge responsibility. He was most excited about the greatest gift of all. He was awaiting the arrival of his son due in just four weeks. He named him Zachariyah. He spoke of his son as if he was already here. His unborn son was his pride and joy and an extension of himself. Lester was the epitome of what a true man should be; a good son, a most loving brother, and devoted father. He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Joan Patrice Smith; his father, Lester Alan Smith, Sr.; two sisters, Melissa and Judith; one half-sister, Faith; one half-brother, Judah; one grandfather, James Smith; one step-father, Michael Jackson; one brother-in-law, Gary Burroughs; nine uncles, Gary, Victor, Patrick, Robert, James, Anthony, Fredrick, Dwayne, Angel; seven aunts, Angela, Rita, Joann, Jacqueline, Lorice, Dorothy, Demeter; his fiance, Mariyah Wiggins; step-daughter, A'zariyah; unborn son, Zackariyah, and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
