Lorenzo "Pele" Davis

Lorenzo Davis also known as “Pele “was born on November 19, 1951. He was one of the sixth child born to Iris Davis and Jonathan Davis, in Colón Republic of Panama. He attended Cristobal Colón and Thomas Alva Edison High school in Panama City. Pele was such great soccer player that he received his name after the great soccer player Pele. In 1973 Pele came to the United States of America where he joined the United States Army and was one of the top engineers in his division. Pele was honorably discharged from the army. I’m 1994 Pele join the newly found Panamanian Marching band of Brooklyn. Pele played the drums, flute and the bugle. Any one who knew him knew that he would polish his bugle from morning to night with the Brasso cleaner. Pele was so dedicated to his craft that he would sometimes use a leather belt as drum straps when his original drum straps were frayed. Pele was an amazing cook who had a passion for cooking for family and friends. He was famous for his Pernille, rice and beans, ceviche, and cow foot soup in which he often sold at band practice. Pele, family and friends also would drink Abuela and laugh at the many things in life like dominoes and cards. Anyone who knew Pele saw his immaculate dress code. Pele was always clean and fly from head to toe. Pele loved to party! He would be the first one on the dance floor and the last one off at the end of the night. His favorite dance moves were Salsa , Merengue, and Bachata. If he love you he would give u the shirt off his back but not his dance shoes. In 2014 Pele become very ill and fought a long and hard battle. Like a soldier in God’s Army. His children inspired him to continue his fight. While encouraging him to continue the battle no matter what the out come may be. On August 12, 2023. Lorenzo Davis “Pele” had his last dance with his youngest daughter Sade. God then proceeded to call Lorenzo home peacefully after. He leaves to mourn the love of his life his wife Brenda Colbert-Davis. Children: Tyesha and (H)Lawrence Hill, Yara and (H) Michael Thomas, Sade Colbert-Davis and (H) Antonio Fresse and one son Lorenzo Jr. and (W) Wanda Davis, Siblings: Andrea Davis, Lloyd and (W) Felicia Davis, Rodolfo and (W) Lucia Davis, Valentino and (W) Velta Davis, Cecilio and (W) Claudia Davis, nine grandchildren, one great grandson, a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
