In Loving Memory of Maria Luisa Martinez de Almonte It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Maria “Maqui” Luisa Martinez de Almonte. In life, Maria was a loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and grandmother. Maria passed away with her family by her side on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on April 28, 1959, in Ponce, Puerto Rico and raised in New York City, Maria’s life was a testament to love, strength, and compassion. She was the devoted wife of Joaquin Almonte Martinez. She was a fiercely proud mother to five sons, whose lives she deeply touched with her nurturing love, guidance, and humor. Her nurturing spirit and laughter will remain in their hearts forever. Maria is survived by: her husband, Joaquin; her sons, Elias, Joacim, Jason, Eric, and Emon; her granddaughters; and her sisters, Millie Bran and Awilda Martinez, and a long list of cherished nieces and nephews. A memorial service to honor Maria’s life will be held on February 20, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Grace Funeral Chapels. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the life of a remarkable woman whose love will live on in all of us. En vida, María fue una amorosa madre, esposa, hija, hermana, tía y abuela. María falleció con su familia a su lado el día de San Valentín, el 14 de febrero de 2025, a la edad de 65 años. Nacida el 28 de abril de 1959 en Ponce, Puerto Rico y criada en la ciudad de Nueva York, la vida de María fue un testimonio de amor, fortaleza y compasión. Fue la devota esposa de Joaquín Almonte Martínez. Fue una madre ferozmente orgullosa de cinco hijos, cuyas vidas tocó profundamente con su amor, guía y humor. Su espíritu cariñoso y su risa permanecerán en sus corazones para siempre. A María le sobreviven: su esposo, Joaquín; sus hijos, Elías, Joacim, Jason, Eric y Emon; sus nietas; y sus hermanas, Millie Bran y Awilda Martínez, y una larga lista de queridos sobrinos y sobrinas. Se llevará a cabo un servicio conmemorativo para honrar la vida de María el 20 de febrero de 2025, de 5:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m. en Grace Funeral Chapels. Se invita a familiares y amigos a reunirse y celebrar la vida de una mujer extraordinaria cuyo amor vivirá en todos nosotros. El recuerdo de María permanecerá en nuestros corazones, apreciado por siempre y nunca olvidado.
