Ida B. Ray

June 10, 1932 - September 26, 2018

Ms. Ida B. Ray was born in Hoke County, North Carolina on June 10, 1932 to the late Catherine Warren and the late Oscar Ray. She quietly departed this life on September 26, 2018. Ida attended the Hoke County School System while growing up on a farm in North Carolina. During her youth she found a best friend in her late brother Grady Warren. Settling in New York City in the late 1940’s with her husband the late Archie Ray, she found a home in Brownsville, Brooklyn. As a member of the Brownsville community for over 60 years she spent time hosting card games, traveling to Atlantic City, and giving back to the ones she loved. She retired in 2007 from Daytop Village after 20+ years of service. Ida got the most joy out of cooking and spending time with her family. She was full of life and love, and led by example. She was loved by all of those she touched and will never be forgotten. Miss Ida B. Ray will be deeply missed by all. Preceded by her late daughters Katherine and Barbara; Ida’s loving memory will be forever cherished by her Sister, Nancy, two Daughters, Shirley (Joseph Braddock) and Audrey; her Son, Kenneth; her Grandchildren, Rosalyn, Anthony, Sean, Tracey, Reggie, Crystal (Mauris White), Lennie and Kenneth Jr.; 1 Niece, Tawana; 1 Great-Nephew, Mark; 19 Great-Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
