OBITUARY Lawrence Phillip Spencer was born on February 9, 1952 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the seventh of ten children born to the late Milton and Gloria Spencer and grew up in Brooklyn. Latique attended George Westinghouse High School and then enlisted in the United States Army.. When he returned home, he worked at various jobs before settling in as a Youth Counselor at the NYC Dept of Juvenile Justice., a good fit for him as he always took time to talk to young people. During his time there, he took time to listen to the youths and took pride in putting on talent shows to showcase their talents. Latique loved to read, cook, gamble and sing. One of his favorite songs which he performed in his youth and beyond was “Signifying Monkey” and the Stevie Wonder version of “Happy Birthday.” This love of singing led him to Karaoke which he enjoyed tremendously so he could show off his singing. Latique was a stylish dresser and always topped off his outfit with a matching hat and shoes. He would wear suits anywhere, including a family picnic or the beach. He loved to dance and flirt with the ladies and liked being the center of attention. He enjoyed playing basketball and participating in all sports. He had a very competitive nature and would challenge anyone. His last challenge was showing that he could do fifty push-ups at the age of 70.. He was always there to lend a helping hand whenever his family or friends called him, often responding to a request as “What do you need me to do?” He leaves to celebrate his memories his son Edward Pritchard and daughter Amber Graham, his dedicated companion Nora Pritchard, his good friend Sharon Graham, his grandchildren, Zaquan, Ashonie Andre Jr. his brother Salahudeen Abdul Rahmaan, sisters Ellen Britt, Lauren Staley Pritchett, Gloria Hunter, Cherryl Spencer, Claudette Nurse, Christine Baucom, Alva Watson one sister-in-law Diana Rahmaan, three brothers-in-laws Raymond Baucom, Ernest Nurse, and Theadore Pritchett, 3 grandkids Zaquan, Ashani, and Andre Jr,. a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, one aunt and best Friends Dusha Holmes and Rob Farrow.
