Ms. Marie Ternemil

June 21, 1958 - April 28, 2022

Marie Alta Ternemil passed away abruptly, early morning on April 28, 2022. Marie was born in Port-de-Paix, Haiti in 1958 to Tertulia & Joanes. She arrived in New York City in late 1982, eager to make a road for herself and her family. Marie made a way where there was no way. She started with very little but found her way from Crown Heights, Brooklyn to working in Rockland County, NY because that’s where the opportunities were present. She worked at St. Agatha Home, a division of New York Founding. She spent 21 years working there. She also worked at Nyack Hospital as a Patient Care Assistant, where she gave them 17 years of service. She took her last breath at work, at Nyack Hospital, a poetic ending to a life of spent caring for others. Despite working in Rockland County all those years, she made her home in Brooklyn, NY, where she had no desire to ever leave for more than a few days at a time. Marie is survived by her partner, Wilson Benoit, and her children, Carly, Kevin and Darnell. Left to cherish her memories are her sister Yollette, her best friend, Marie P., her cousins and aunts, her friends and all the co-workers she spent countless hours working alongside. She loved. She was loved. She will be dearly missed. She will always be cherished.
