In Loving Memory of Cynthia Diaz-Torres Beloved daughter, sister, mother & wife (September 6, 1971 - September 30, 2023) Cynthia Diaz-Torres, affectionately known as Cindy, was born on September 6, 1971, in the Bronx, to her mother, Carmen Gomez-Roman. Raised by her devoted father, Carmelo Roman, and her mother, Cindy’s early years were shaped by the love and care of both her parents. On September 30, 2023, she was called to the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. As a child, Cindy’s journey led her to the sandy shores of Rockaway Beach, where she would meet the love of her life, Atilano “Junior” Torres. Their love story began on April 14, 1989, blossoming into a lifelong bond filled with unwavering devotion. In their journey together, Cindy and Junior decided to start a family, and together, they welcomed four beautiful children into their lives. Her role as a mother was her greatest joy, and she poured boundless love and care into Stephanie, Jason, Lianna, and Angelina, guiding them through life with wisdom and warmth. Cindy spent the majority of her years in Rockaway, where she served as a medical receptionist for South Shore Pediatrics and Island Pediatrics. Her welcoming smile and compassionate nature touched the lives of all who crossed her path. In the heart of the community, she playfully earned the nickname ‘mayor of Rockaway’ due to her remarkable ability to connect with and know everyone. She was loved and respected by her friends and coworkers, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Family was paramount in Cindy’s life, and her heart was vast enough to embrace each member of her extended family. She held a special place in her heart for her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, creating lasting bonds that enriched the lives of all involved. Cindy is survived by her beloved husband, Junior; her loving mother, Carmen; her caring siblings, Alex, Jessie, and Cindy R.; and her adoring children, Stephanie, Jason, Lianna, and Angelina. Her legacy of love and the countless memories she created will forever reside in our hearts. Cindy’s spirit touched the lives of many, and her memory will continue to be a beacon of love and strength for all who knew her. In our hearts, she will live on, an eternal reminder of the profound impact one soul can have on those around them. Rest in peace, dear Cindy. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
