Mrs. Darlene Williams-Speller

IN LOVING MEMORY OF DARLENE WILLIAMS SPELLER Darlene Williams-Speller was born on September 25,1962 in Brooklyn NY, Kings County Hospital to the late Willie Williams and Freddie Mae Williams. Unfortunately she departed from this life on May 10, 2022 at the age of 59 years old. Darlene attended the NYC public school system and graduated from Boys & Girls High School in 1981 where she also received certificates for being outstanding in Science and Technology. As a teenager she earned the name “Shabama” while she was studying the knowledge of the Five Percent Nation. Darlene was a hard worker and worked several jobs during her lifetime.Her very first job was at Abraham & Strauss. Darlene also worked for years as a seasonal worker at the USPS, NYCHA for ten years, where the kids lovingly nicknamed her Miss Williams. Darlene completed a data entry course in Harlem, NY in 1995 and continued her work journey at NYC HRA for 20 years before retiring as a Eligibility Specialist. Darlene was married on June 11, 2011 to Anthony Speller, who preceded her in death on September 1, 2020. Darlene enjoyed going to parties, hosting family gatherings, music, dancing, playing cards, and watching any type of law or ID channel TV shows. Columbo, The Honeymooners, The Twilight Zone and other shows from her childhood were her favorite. Darlene's number one passion was fashion. She loved furs, minks, leathers, prints (leopard, snakeskin, cheetah, paisley), as well designer clothes and perfumes. (Gucci, Fendi, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Saint Laurent, Juicy Couture and Estee Lauder) .Darlene had an extensive shoe collection and an abundance of jewelry. She was always well-dressed, and always had the most stylish hairstyles. Darlene loved some good southern cooking and if your food wasn’t right she would definitely complain. She was good at making finger-licking fried chicken and selling tickets for parties and events. Even though Darlene's health declined she still continued to party at 95 South and Kinnam Lounge. Darlene is preceded in death by her husband Anthony Speller,their baby girl Bornita Speller and her sister Frances Williams. Darlene leaves to mourn her three children Raheim Williams, (Rachia), Darnaisha Williams-Faison (Daran Sr.), and Shaquanna; Williams, Three grandchildren Radsia Williams, Jalen Williams, and Daran Jr., one great-grandson Ja'mere and One Aunt Catherine Burch. Three sisters: Gwendolyn Williams (), Dorothy Williams (Nate), and Latanya Smith (Dexter). She also leaves five nieces, two nephews, 1 great niece, 2 great nephews, a host of cousins, relatives, and close friends.
