Juliette Freeman

Juliette “Kim” Freeman was born on August 17, 1961 to Eric Slade and Cora Freeman at Cumberland Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Kim, as so many endearingly called her, was a BROOKLYN girl to a T and a proud New Yorker. She graduated from Clara Barton High School where she studied to be a medical secretary and enjoyed playing softball. Kim continued her education at Medgar Evers College where she received an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and although she had to take a few breaks from college because of life’s twists and turns, she was exceptionally proud of her journey in education! At the age of eighteen, Kim began her life long career with the Federal Government, starting with the Department of Food and Drug Administration in 1983 she worked her way up until she transferred to the Inspector General's Office of Social Security where she worked diligently until she retired in December of 2021. Kim, will be remembered by many for her positive and optimistic outlook on life. She was an honest, loving, meticulous, generous and very down to earth woman. She could walk for miles with you making you laugh along the way cracking jokes or just by changing her voice and intentionally mispronouncing words, as she was a wordsmith. She was fluent in Spanish and French and loved museums, art, science, and loved to show how knowledgeable she was, especially in a game of Jeopardy. Kim loved music of all genres, from classical to Hip Hop, but Anita Baker really made her heart sing! She was big on philanthropy and giving back; from participating in community food drives or walking in the Annual Aids Walk, Walk to Cure Cancer, to charitable donations of many organizations like the ASPCA. Kim didn't just see herself in the world but how she could help the world she was in- “if you can do more, do more till you can’t.” With her initial endometrial cancer diagnosis in 2015, Kim remained a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, mother and friend; She was Always there when you needed her or her ear no matter how tired or unwell she may have felt. She was apart of a case study for immunotherapy and In 2017 the cancer was in remission. Kim immediately got back to traveling and spending more time with everyone she loved! She relocated to Bayonne, NJ in 2020 and prepared for her retirement in 2021. Unfortunately, shortly after her 60th birthday and retirement, the cancer returned as an aggressive form of Brain Cancer. She underwent brain surgery in September that year. Throughout her recovery she remained upbeat and loving doing all she could for those she loved until she couldn’t at the end of 2022. Our champion continued to fight her battle with Brain cancer through her last days in 2023, finally deciding to fully rest on August 23rd 2023. Although so many will miss her, Kim leaves behind her mother, Cora Freeman-Christian, two children: son Anibal Nuñez III, daughter Erika Nuñez, and grandson Graison Nuñez; One Sister Sharon; two brothers Derek and Ivan, a sister from another, Susan ‘Sue”, nephew and confidant Kelvin, along with a host of nieces, nephews and so many loving friends and colleagues. Kim was a gem with a heart of gold and she will truly be missed The family requests that cards and notes be sent to Erika & Anibal Nuñez at: 301 Constitution Ave, Apt 201 Bayonne, NJ 07002. There will be a viewing from 11AM-1pm & 6pm-8pm on Wednesday, September 6,2023, followed by a funeral service on September 7,2023 at 10AM at Grace Funeral Chapels located at 607 N Conduit Blvd Brooklyn, NY11208. The service will be followed with a small joyful Celebration of Life at 3pm at: Harbor Pointe 302-CLUB HOUSE Constitution Ave, Bayonne, NJ 07002 The family requests “Sunday Best” attire.
