Mr. Ulysees Dobson

Early Life: Ulysees Dobson arrived on earth, March 30, 1934. He was one of eight children from the union of Adam and Sadie Dobson, who raised him in Gifford, South Carolina. Ulysees received his formal educational experience in the Gifford Public School System. As time went on, he relocated with his family to Brooklyn N.Y. To help support himself and his family, he found his occupational niche in the field of maintenance and labored as a custodian worker for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed his employment and did it with exceptional finesse. His occupation assisted in developing his character. His Character: Ulysees character was quite telling. His outer character reflected his inner being. He was genuinely friendly. He exceeded great degrees of joy and went to extreme measures to converse with everyone that he met, to make them feel valued, welcomed and important. He was unquestionably generous. He contributed to young people in the family and in his neighborhood to those that were pursuing educational endeavors. Or,if you helped him in any way whatsoever, he was very quick to enhance you with a monetary reward. Ulysees was canningly persistent in all endeavors of life. He was a faithful man. He accepted the Lord in his life at an early age. He loved going to church, hearing the gospel preached and listening to gospel songs. Ulysees loved life. His recreational activities included: walking on the track; traveling and cruising with his wife; and watching the METS play ball. He was a huge METS fan. Ulysees lived life to the fullest. His life mirrored love in everything that he said and did. His Love: Ulysees met the love of his life, Mae Bettie, through the introduction from a long-time friend and his cousin. Ulysees and Bettie were married on September 6, 1958, at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. Through this union, 3 daughters were born: Carolyn, Stephanie and Sonja. Ulysees loved and cherished Bettie from the day that he met her, until his last breath. He took his marriage vows seriously and established and cultivated a love that lasted for 61 years. The Call to Heaven: God saw fit to summons Ulysees home on Nov. 7, 2019. His parents and his 7 siblings have all preceded him in death. He leaves behind to mourn his beloved wife of 61 years, Mae Bettie. His 3 daughters, Carolyn, Stephanie and Sonja and an exuberant host of family and friends. “Enter into the joy of the Lord”
